Not every experience has been a good one. This was the first failure since my return to Bali, Indonesia. This is from the Ginger & Jamu hippy restaurant on the beach of Nusa Lembongan.
It’s a hangout for people eating overpriced hippy food while wearing baggy pants and writing blogs about how they found their chakra soul in Ubud or something.
I ordered a brownie and a slice of apple pie, because I love apple pie too. I’m glad I did. The brownie was dry, bland, without interesting texture or substance. It was expensive (relatively speaking) and came cold.
I send it back to be heated. Sometimes quick microwave can save a brownie, softening it, and heating from the inside. They didn’t have one. It went in the oven briefly. Now the outside is even drier and more awful and the inside is still fridge-cold.
The apple pie was delicious, but desperately wanted to be hot, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I felt so sorry for it. It was a great slice of pie, left in the hands of people who treated it like crap. Like a gorgeous, sweet puppy, kept in an abusive household. I wish I could have given it a good home, where its true, lovely nature could be appreciated. Instead, it was cold and disappointing. Sad face.
I also had a mains here. It was overpriced and small. (The roast pumpkin salad, and a friend had their dahl). It was tasty, but again, small, and ultimately left us disappointed.
Do NOT recommend Ginger & Jamu.
